Islam prescribes the rites of sacrifice as one way to endear oneself to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. This is because the rites of sacrifice has various wisdoms and privileges that provide benefits and goodness to ourselves, religion and society. In an effort to strengthen the value of sacrifice and the spirit of brotherhood, develop the message of Islam and foster a spirit of consensus, cooperation and a sense of concern for those in need, the Ministry of Religious Affairs held the rites of sacrifice, 30th May afternoon.
The sacrificial meats were distributed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Datin. 20 heads of families from the Asnaf group in Mukim Kianggeh and Mukim Berakas 'A' received the sacrificial meats.
Also holding a similar ceremony, the Ministry of Health at Dewan Al-'Afiah. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health and Datin, distributed the sacrificial meats to 76 officers and staff of the Ministry.
The Prime Minister's Office and its Departments also held a similar ceremony. The ceremony included a special talk. The sacrificial meats were distributed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister for Energy at the Prime Minister's Office.
Meanwhile, the asnaf groups in Brunei Muara District received the sacrificial meat during the Rites of Sacrifice Ceremony for the Ministry of Finance and Economy. The presentation was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy.
The Sacrificial Rites Ceremony was also held by the Ministry of Home Affairs which took place at the Taubatus Salihin Surau, Maraburong Prison Institution Phase Three. The ceremony included a talk on Aidiladha. The distribution of sacrificial meat to the asnaf group from Mukim Keriam was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs.
